General Objectives:

This course is devoted to “UPPER-INTERMEDIATE (B2)” level students.  It provides input that would enable the students to acquire the necessary communication skills as well as the linguistic tools to develop both fluency and accuracy in English.  This course also aims at giving students exposure to terms and concepts related to management, finance, and marketing.

Specific Objectives:

The course aims at improving students’ communicative competence. It targets the four skills of the English language (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) in order to prepare students for a wide range of business situations such as taking part in meetings, leading a brainstorming session, negotiating, networking and business writing. The course provides opportunities to delve deeper into business content areas through role play, case studies and business writing assignments.

Methodology:

The course has been designed to afford the student an active role in the learning process.  The book Market Leader combines some of the most stimulating recent ideas from the world of business with a strongly-tasked based approach.  In addition to lectures, there will be exercises, case studies, role plays and discussions. It is expected that students will actively participate in the class discussions and activities.  Students will be given short homework assignments in each class to be corrected or discussed in the next class.
